Hi. I´m Pia.
Welcome to my little corner of the internet.
What started as a passion project for friends has blossomed into something much more. I've realized that people from all over the world are reading my articles, and it's time I properly introduce myself.
Why This Blog
Alongside my personal voyage, I've encountered extraordinary individuals and learned invaluable lessons about life—lessons that I feel compelled to share.
Listening, observing, and translating experiences into words have always been my greatest strengths. I write to inspire and uplift those who seek guidance in navigating their own paths.
This blog is a place where authenticity and straightforwardness are cherished, and emotions run wild. I invite you to join me on this journey as we embrace the wisdom and beauty life has to offer.
My Story
My Roots
Born and raised in Austria, I spent the first three decades of my life in a small town in Lower Austria. After high school, I embarked on a brief journey into the world of Biology at the University of Vienna. However, I quickly realized I didn't quite fit in among the crowds in lecture halls.
Moreover, I yearned for complete independence, which meant earning my own money.
Starting My Own Life
And so I found myself in a less-than-ideal office job at a construction materials manufacturer. For the initial six months, I tediously assigned numbers to scanned documents for eight long hours a day.
Utter mundanity at its finest.
Thankfully, my manager recognized my potential, and soon I transitioned to the Front Office Department. Over the next two years, I took on various tasks, from customer service and sales support to telemarketing. Eagerly absorbing knowledge, I found myself captivated by the business world.
After some time of customer service-focused work, an opportunity arose to become the assistant to the Managing Director. It was a role full of new responsibilities and challenges, and I embraced it wholeheartedly. I learned. I grew. Tremendously.
Over the span of a decade in that position, I later led a project to implement a new CRM system while simultaneously fulfilling my assistant duties. It was an exciting time. Juggling the demands of an assistant role in a 450-employee company, I also managed:
-
to build a house,
-
discover my passion for Pilates and become an instructor,
-
run half-marathons and one full marathon,
-
and return to university for an MBA, all simply for the joy of it.
It was a remarkable period of my life. I absorbed countless invaluable lessons, encountered remarkable individuals, and grew in ways I never thought possible.
But as our house neared completion, my university courses drew to a close, my Pilates certification secure, and the project nearing its conclusion, a profound question loomed:
WHAT NEXT?
Unfortunately, my husband and I held different visions of the answer, leading to our eventual divorce. Professionally, I received an offer to co-lead a larger international project, which felt like a continuation of the work I had done before, just bigger. But nothing really new.
Austria felt confined. I yearned for growth, for something more.
And after much exploration and introspection, and because of some more reasons I explore in my post "Why I Left Austria," I made the decision to say goodbye.
Biggest Change in My Life
I divorced. I resigned from my job. I sold everything. I was ready to start a new life.
And then, unexpectedly, love found me.
I fell head over heels and moved to Sardinia, completely transforming my life.
For two challenging summers, I worked alongside my new partner in his Yacht Service Agency in Sardinia. I taught Pilates on private yachts, and during winter, we traveled throughout Asia, exploring Sri Lanka, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Malaysia.
After two years of whirlwind summers in Sardinia, I felt a deep yearning to find something that resonated with my true desire for living.
The Beginning of Now
As fate would have it, I unexpectedly secured a job as a resident Pilates Instructor in a prestigious 5-star hotel in Bali.
I spent two incredible years there, but eventually realized I craved a more intimate setting to connect and grow with individuals on a deeper level.
And so, I turned my focus inward, nurturing my own practice and personal growth.
This is where I find myself now—stronger, healthier, and happier than ever before in my life.
